Autumn '21

Grain trucks are rolling by

bringing in the harvest

One by one

filled to the brim

steadily rolling down the lane

Trying to beat the rain

Is the owner of the field happy?

Are his yields enough

to sustain his flock 'til the next season?

He's the keeper of the fields

Will I be ready when He comes

to hew me down

to haul me off to feed His flock

Am I ready before the storm comes?

It's very quick, the farmer hustles

He wants to be home by dinner

Many fields to chop

Planted early spring, seems so long ago

Get the harvest in before the storm comes

Grain trucks hurry by

Must be home for dinner
