Glimpses of you I see when I stand beside you, looking there at "me".
What are you doing with all that time?
Did you never stop to think of me, years down the line?
Did your heart ever speak up for me
and try to save me from the tears?
Could you never pause to consider the grief and pain?
The years upon years left still
and not to mention the offshoots of
your hysteria, your private moments of selfishness
I look, but not too many glances back
to the wide streets and sunny skies,
the kind eyes and funny guys,
barking dogs and seaside views,
singing choirs and hard church pews
Where did all the time escape to,
wasted on yourself
Did you never see,
wrinkled hands and dark grey hair,
skirts and aprons and hands raised to heaven?
You could have done better and saved me from
the web you caught me in.
